Good morning and happy Friday!
Here are today's activities for you to try. We wish you all a relaxing, sunny and safe weekend with your families.
Maths - Subtracting 2-digit numbers by counting up
We return to subtracting today with 2-digit numbers. Remember, a 2-digit number is made up of tens and ones. Today's lesson is about counting UP to calculate. This means you will be jumping forwards on a numberline to find the difference between two numbers.
The PowerPoint attached is there to support you and to remind you that you can jump to the next 'tens' number (for example, 20, 30, 40 etc) to help with counting. Once again, number bonds to 10 will help you with this!
English - The story of Hansel and Gretel
Today's activities are based on the traditional tale of Hansel and Gretel. Once you have read the story, there are some questions to answer about the text. You will also find Griselda's diary to read - there is lots of punctuation missing that you can add!
Remember when we wrote diary entries as Samuel Pepys during the Great Fire of London? Why not now write a diary entry for Hansel or Gretel! You will need to write in the first person ("I" or "we")....there is a checklist included to help you remember diary writing features. If you would like extra activities, you may like to draw your own gingerbread house! Which delicious treats might you include?
Take a photograph of your fantasy insect and email it to us. Tell us all about it including; what you like about it, how you had the ideas, why you decided different parts, what you would do differently next time…
We will add your photos to the Year 2 Gallery!
