Welcome back Maple Class! I hope you had a brilliant Easter break with lots of chocolate and Easter eggs. Thank you to those of you who have emailed me photos of what you've been up to at home. Please keep looking at the 'gallery' part of the blog to see all the learning, cooking and general fun of what your friends have been having! It's lovely to keep in touch. I shall be making more calls home to you again this week to find out more!

If you haven’t already seen it, take a look at the Home Learning Reading Challenge!

You could write a book review and send me a copy of it to put on the blog

English: Today’s work looks at a couple of chapters from Fantastic Mr Fox. Some of you may know the story or have the book at home, but if not, they are included in the pack! The instructions ask you to read the texts and think about how the characters are described. When you have done that you could try writing your own description of a character!

Don't forget you can practice your spellings in fun ways using spelling shed using the link .

Your spellings for this week are:

probably                 special

promise                  straight

quarter                   strange

regular                   strength

sentence                surprise

Maths: This week your Maths tasks will look a little different, but I am hoping that the layout will be clearer and easier to understand. The aim is that you can complete 1 online lesson each day. You may find that some of the work is a bit new, but for each lesson there is a powerpoint slideshow to explain the what to do. Once you have watched this, try the tasks it relates to.

When you click on the link below, make sure you go to Week 1, Lesson 1

(Unit and non-unit fractions).

We are starting at the beginning of this unit of work.

If you have any problems or questions, do email me at It would be useful to know how you find this new set-up!

Other activities you might consider doing:

  • Spring project: Design a fantasy insect. This is an insect that doesn't exist! Each part of its body could be part of an insect you already know, or from your own imagination. Use a book /  the internet / photographs / drawings to help you if you need it. Can you label different parts such as eyes, antennae, chest, legs and abdomen? What colours would it be made out of? Please send me a photo of your insect so I can share it on the gallery page!

  • Today is Cooper's 1st birthday- so exciting! He would love it if you could draw him a picture or card and send me a picture of it for our gallery! Look at these photos to see how much he's grown since we got him.
